A generic discount is a special promotion created by the salon that allows customers to save on certain treatments and/or products. With Treatwell Pro, you can create discounts with different features such as setting a limited time of use or customising it for a special occasion.
Discounts are a great tool to build customer loyalty and increase appointments. Once created and activated, they can be viewed on the Treatwell Marketplace and will be bookable within 30 days following the date of creation.
How to create a generic discount
To create a generic discount, you need to access the "Promotions" section of the menu and click on the "+" button or on the "Create a new one" link in the centre of the page.
From the promotions window, you will need to click on the "Generic discount" option.
The generic discount creation and customisation page will open, from which it will be possible to set the following:
Name generic discount: enter the name of the discount and a brief description of the promotion.
Type and value: in this section, you can decide whether to apply the discount to the entire price list, exclude certain services, or select only the services to which the discount will be applied. You can also enter the relative discount percentage.
Activation: it is possible to set a time period during which the generic discount can be purchased.
Validity: within this area, there are further options for customising the discount, such as the days of the week in which the discount can be used, the times in which it can be used, the number of times it can be used and a possible expiration date (it is always advisable to enter it, in order not to lose track of active promos). If the expiry date is changed later by the salon, the conditions established at the time of purchase will still be valid for customers who have already purchased the promotion.
Redemption: indicates how the customer can redeem their discount, whether via code or automatically.
With the 'Automatic redemption' option, the promotion is valid for all customers and will be visible online.
The generic discount generated using ‘Redeemable with code’ can only be applied when paying at venue - it is not available online.
Therefore, when you choose to generate a code, you will have to manually apply it to the customer in the management system. If and when you want to communicate the code to your customers, it is advisable to make a note of it and share it, for example with a marketing campaign via email or text message, so that they can use it when paying at venue.
Extra: here you can select whether the discount is redeemable only once or whether the customer can access the discount multiple times within the time period set.
Finally, click on the "Continue" button to generate the promo. You can go back to the generic discount at any time to change or delete it.
How to associate a generic discount with a customer
If the discount created is for automatic redemption rather than with a code, it will be available in the "Cash" section of the software when you check out an appointment.
If, on the other hand, a discount code has been created and it has not been previously shared with the customer, it can be associated with them at the time of payment in the salon by following the next steps:
Go to the "Cash" section and search for the customer's name.
Click on "Subscriptions and promos" in the right corner.
Click on the "+" icon and then on "Redeem with code"
Enter the code to redeem the discount.
After pressing "Confirm", the discount is applied to the account.
How to disassociate a generic discount from a customer
In order to disassociate a generic discount from a customer, you must access the "Promotions" section, select the promo from the list and click on the "Active customers" button at the top right, Locate the customer's name and click on the bin icon to delete it.
How to cancel a generic discount
To cancel the generic discount, in the "Promotions" section, select the promotion in question and click on the "Delete" button in the top left corner.
A second window will appear with two deletion options:
By selecting "Delete for everyone" the generic discount will be disassociated from all customers and new associations will not be permitted;
With the "Delete only for future customers" option, the promotion will remain active only for customers who have already been associated up to the expiry date, but it will not be possible to associate with new customers.
Please note: Before deleting, it is advisable to check for any customers associated with the promo and deactivate them.
