A generic discount is a special promotion created by the salon that allows clients to save money on certain treatments and/or products. With Treatwell Pro you can create discounts with different characteristics, for example by setting a limited time of use or customising it for a special occasion.

Discounts are a great way to build customer loyalty and increase salon appointments. Once created and activated, they can be viewed on the Treatwell Marketplace and will be bookable within 30 days of the current date.

How to create a generic discount

To create a generic discount, you need to access the 'Promotions' section of the menu and click on the '+' button or the 'Create a new one' link in the centre of the page.

From the promotions window, click on the 'Generic Discount' option.

This will open the generic discount creation and customisation page, from which you will be able to set the following characteristics:

  • Generic discount name: enter the name of the discount and a brief description of the promo.

  • Type and value: you can choose whether you want to apply the discount to your whole menu, only exclude certain services or cherry-pick the ones you want to select. You can then select the amount or the percentage you would like to discount.

  • Activation: it is possible to set a period of time during which the generic discount can be purchased.

  • Validity: within this area there are further options for customising the discount, such as the days of the week when the discount can be used, the times when it can be used, the number of times it can be used and a possible expiry date (it is always advisable to enter this, so as not to lose track of active promotions).

  • Redemption: indicate how clients can redeem their discount, whether by code or automatically by associating the promotion with the client. With the 'Automatic Redemption' option, the promotion is valid for all clients and will be visible online. When you choose to generate a code, on the other hand, it is advisable to note it down and share it with the clients to whom you wish to apply the discount (e.g. by email, text message, etc.), so that they can use it when booking.

Finally, click on the 'Confirm' button to generate the promo. You can return to the generic discount at any time to modify or delete it.

How to associate a generic discount with a client

If the discount created provides for automatic redemption, it will be available in 'Cash' when the appointment is checked out.

If, on the other hand, a discount code has been created and has not previously been shared with the client, it can be associated at the time of payment in the salon by following the steps below:

  1. Go to the "Cash" section and search for the client's name.

  2. Click on "Bundles and Promotions" in the right-hand corner.

  3. Click on the "+" icon and then on "Redeem with code".

  4. Enter the code to redeem the discount.

After pressing "Confirm", the discount is applied to the account.

How to deassociate a Generic Discount from a client

In order to deassociate a generic discount from a client, you need to go to the "Promotions" section, select the promo from the list and click on the "Active Clients" button at the top right, locate the client's name and click on the basket to delete it.

How to delete a generic discount

To delete a generic discount, in the 'Promotions' section, select the promo in question and click on the 'Delete' button.

A second window will appear with two deletion options:

  • Selecting "Delete for all" will disassociate the generic discount from all clients and no new associations will be allowed;

  • With the "Delete for future clients only" option, the promo will remain active only for clients who have already been associated until the expiry date, while it will not be possible to associate new clients.
